Digital Treatment Planning Steps
|
-
Step 1
Complete the initial exam, and take impressions and bite registration. Restorative Dentist: Provide accurate full-arch impressions, including the vestibules as well as the palate, a bite registration, and send a digital Rx to the lab (click "Submit Digital Case"). Glidewell Dental Lab will create a CT scan appliance based on the requirements of the prescribed guided system (NobelGuide™ or SimPlant™) to be used.
-
Step #2
At the next appointment, try-in the scan appliance. Restorative Dentist: Verify the fit of the scan appliance (Radiographic Guide) and bite registration (Radiographic Index). Send the patient with the scan appliance for a CT scan. NOTE: Precise fabrication and fit of the Radiographic Guide is vital for proper digital planning and guided surgery. The teeth should be in the ideal prosthetic position. The base of the appliance must seat evenly on the soft tissue.
-
Step #3
Send the patient for a CT scan and upload the DICOM files and digital Rx to the lab's FTP site. Image Center: Scan the patient based on the protocols of the guided system to be utilized. Send the DICOM files to IDS via our secure FTP site (or send us file(s) on a CD). NOTE: The scan must be taken following criteria specific to the planning software. The scanning protocols are available on the NobelGuide™ and SimPlant™ sections of our website. These can be printed and attached to your radiology Rx. IDS: The DICOM files are converted to an appropriate file for the selected software. The image is then posted on our secure FTP site and the doctor is notified via e-mail.
-
Step #4
At this stage, our Digital Treatment Planning Administrator will arrange a WebEx meeting with the prescribing doctor and the case planner. The goal of this meeting is to verify the patient images and your digital Rx.
-
Step #5
We will create a surgical plan that ensures the implant placement meets esthetic and functional requirements as predetermined by the scan prosthesis within the confines of the existing bone. You will be notified, via e-mail, to arrange a WebEx Meeting. Once the restorative dentist and surgeon review the plan via WebEx, they will receive an e-mail with a link to "My Account." Sign into the secure site to access, view and approve the plan.
-
Step #6
Verify fit of the surgical template and perform implant placement procedure, following your plan. Surgical Dentist: Tooth-supported and tissue-supported surgical guides should be tried in to verify complete seating. The case then proceeds according to your plan.
