Prismatik CZ is an open system for the manufacturing of zirconia copings and frameworks, which labs can utilize in a number of ways:
Option 1
Labs with less than five units a day can send in dies or models in the classic outsource method. We will design and provide copings or frameworks on your models for $59 per coping plus shipping.
Option 2
Labs with 10 to 30 units per day can purchase a scan and design system for use in their own facility. Then, simply scan and design your own products before sending us the CAD data for manufacturing. We term this Prismatik CZ remote design, and it is available for $39 per coping plus $7 outbound shipping per box. Combine multiple cases in one box to save money on shipping.
Option 3
For labs who have grown to a sufficient volume and now justify the need for their own manufacturing (typically over 50 units per day), we can train and equip your lab with your own production capability to control ongoing demands. This option results in a cost of approximately $15 per coping after the purchase of a scan and design module, nesting module and milling unit. A Prismatik CZ 100 x 20 mm solid blank is priced at $270 for approximate milling of up to 20 copings.
Our remote design model has been very successful, with our very first partner coming aboard more than two years ago. We now have seven remote design partners, all of whom continuously send in transactions to our manufacturing centers located in Newport Beach and Irvine, Calif. Partner labs opt to participate in remote design because they like the design control, the ease of case transfer, the speed of turnaround, the cost savings of designing themselves and one-way shipping.
Remote Design Procedure:
The remote design site makes traditional die models, scans them and designs the copings or bridge frameworks; then, it sends the design to the laboratory via the Internet. There is no inbound shipping, and transfer of the file takes virtually seconds. For new partners still on the design learning curve, we will initially monitor the inbound design; however, we find fairly quickly that we can fast track the design straight into the manufacturing process. If the remote design site has any concerns on a specific case, they can request we review the design online before proceeding. The transfer system auto-generates a confirmation e-mail to assure the remote lab that up-load has been successful and their case is in production. The model stays at the design location.
After the coping or framework is manufactured, thinning is quick and minimal, primarily because we have already refined the design to have a very thin margin (the thickness of the Prismatik CZ margin straight out of the oven is typically less than two-tenths of a millimeter).
Remote Design Training:
We run a 3-day training course for Prismatik CZ remote design owners at our Irvine facility. This covers scanning, design, finishing, base coloring and porcelain. Students are also exposed to the manufacturing process so that they clearly understand what will happen to their design, and gain insight into the procedures involved should they desire to implement full manufacturing capability in the future. Once training has been completed, the Prismatik CZ remote design system is shipped to their lab and ready for immediate use upon their return. We also have a telephone help desk dedicated to digital manufacturing support, and all systems are equipped with the ability for Glidewell Digital Manufacturing personnel to interact with the design in real-time over a secured network connection between our lab and yours. This ability helps to resolve any outstanding questions, reinforces the training as needed, and assists with software release and training updates.
