Introduction
The following posterior waxing technique uses Silicone Occlusal Molds and Carving Waxes from Glidewell Direct to achieve perfect anatomy and save time during the waxing process.
Figure #1 The use of posterior silicone occlusal molds aids the technician in creating perfect, functional and anatomically correct occlusal tables quickly.
-
Figure #2
This dramatically reduces the time spent during the waxing process.
-
Figure #3
After completing seating the silicone occlusal mold, use Glidewell Direct carving waxes to fill in the gingival two-thirds of the wax-up.
-
Figure #4
Check the emergence profile to make sure it's not bulky and that there are no other areas that require more wax.
-
Figure #5
Once the wax has completely hardened, remove the silicone occlusal pattern from the wax.
-
Figure #6
By pulling up on one of the tabs, it will separate easily.

Figure #7
Finally, remove the coping and add wax to the contact areas and margins.
-
Figure #8
Place it back onto the model for contact refinement.
-
Figure #9
The wax-up will now be smoothed to achieve correct anatomical contours. Margins and contacts should be checked.
