Bite Splints

Figure #1
Place the upper and lower models securely into the Occluform attachment and tighten.

Mount the opposing model using the patient's open construction bite, as shown.

Fill the model container with granules. Be sure to fill in any open spaces underneath the model.

After the heating cycle is finished, place the disc over the model to activate the vacuum.

Place a sheet over the model to prevent sticking. Close the Occluform to imprint a flat bite plane.

Remove the disc ring and lift both the disc frame and model container out of the unit.

Using a fissure bur, rough cut the splint out of the disc. Be sure to retain the natural undercut.

A crosscut carbide bur and Lisko-S disc are used to contour, smooth and polish cut areas.
