Introduction
Prismatik ThinPress™ Technique
Figure #1 Pour master impression and block out undercuts or voids. Carefully remove stone to expose the margins and mark with red pencil.
-
Figure #2
Die spacer is only utilized on sharp line angles. Paint the teeth with die lube and use prefabricated anterior shells or hand waxing to contour the veneer.
-
Figure #3
After waxing to full contour, remove the wax-up to ensure that no areas are less than 0.3 mm. Handle the wax-up carefully to avoid distortion or open margins.
-
Figure #4
Apply a small amount of sticky wax to the end of a round sprue and attach it to the incisal as shown. Ideal sprue length is 8 mm.
-
Figure #5
The veneers should angle toward the outside of the ring with the margins directed toward the outer walls. Mark the ingot shade on the sprue former and invest.
-
Figure #6
After burnout is complete, add the ThinPress ingots and plunger into the sprue hole and place the investment ring into a pressing oven.
-
Figure #7
After cooling, remove the top half of the investment and sandblast with 25-micron glass beads to eliminate all investment from the veneers.
-
Figure #8
Cut veneers from sprue, keeping the area wet to avoid heat fractures. Fit the veneers and carefully sandblast all surfaces to remove surface contaminants.
-
Figure #9
Situations such as voids, open contacts and under-contoured areas can be repaired using the appropriate ThinPress Correction Powders.
-
Figure #10
When the veneers require more incisal translucency and have adequate space, opal incisal layering powders can be used after cutback.
-
Figure #11
Using the prescribed stump shade, examine the veneer alongside the requested shade tab. If staining is indicated, apply stain as needed to match the shade tab.
-
Figure #12
When the final esthetics are achieved, they can be polished and should be etched with a ceramic etching gel for effective bonding results.
