Continuing education is the cornerstone of a successful dental career. With constant technological innovation, evolving treatment protocols and bold new clinical techniques, engagement with relevant CE is more important now than ever before. Inspired by the dentists who work hard to deliver quality care for their patients, we established the annual Glidewell Dental Symposium in 2017.  The concept — to present the latest information on a broad range of dental topics in a condensed two-day event — has been met with increasing demand, and we have doubled the size of this year’s symposium, taking place Nov. 8–9 in Orlando. The main-podium presentations and breakout workshops cover the topics most relevant to dentists looking to grow their practices and expand their services. I hope to see you there. Find all the details at glidewellsymposium.com.

Dr. Taylor Manalili is our first-ever Glidewell Fellow, and I highly recommend our Q&A with her featured in this issue of Chairside® magazine. Dr. Manalili is a prosthodontist and has devoted much of her time here to improving restorative protocols for full-arch implant treatment. We have been lucky to have her on our clinical research & development team, and she is a great example of the many clinicians striving to enhance clinical knowledge for the benefit of patients and dentistry at large.

The Misch Institute has long stood at the forefront of implant education, and we’re again proud to feature the institute’s director, Dr. Randolph Resnik, in our magazine. His latest article, the conclusion to his well-received three-part series on tooth extraction and socket grafting, is essential reading for all doctors performing tooth extractions in their practices.

Three separate case studies by Drs. Chad Duplantis, Anamaria Muresan and Paresh Patel highlight dramatic smile transformations for patients who presented for treatment with considerable obstacles to success. These cases cover a range of dental disciplines yet all result in a highly esthetic outcome, showing the dramatic impact dentists are making on the lives of their patients.

All of the contributors mentioned here will be appearing at the Glidewell Symposium, but our educational programs don’t stop there. Several other articles spotlight the courses we’re bringing to dentists across the country, covering topics ranging from implant dentistry, to dental sleep medicine, to single-appointment restorations.

Chairside magazine represents our sincere effort to deliver informative content directly to your practice. We welcome your feedback.
