Digital Scanning for Restorative Dentistry

Course Objectives

1 CE Credit

Digital scanning for restorative dentistry offers more efficiency, comfort and convenience for the dental team. In addition, an accurate scan can solve a number of issues associated with traditional impression-taking techniques, including errors caused by shrinkage or expansion of impression materials and die stone.

Knowledge of scanning techniques is important to ensure the user is obtaining the cleanest, most readable scan possible. This program will cover all skills necessary to render a successful, readable digital intraoral scan for the fabrication of crowns, bridges, inlays, onlays and veneers.

Learning Objectives

  • Gain a better understanding of the clinical applications of intraoral scans in restorative dentistry
  • Apply scanning pathways and techniques to actual patient treatments
  • Understand the importance of soft tissue control and suggested techniques to obtain an accurate scan of prepared teeth
